My son X-Ray went through a LONG phase of loving Paw Patrol. Personally, I feel Chase gets too much undeserved screen time - I'm more of a Marshall and Rubble fan since they seem to do a lot of the heavy-lifting in their missions. But for some inexplicable reason, Chase seems to be the popular one.
Whilst X-Ray's own Paw Patrol birthday cake only featured his fave Chase, our loyal customer from Leatherhead (our award-winning bakery delivers cake to Surrey and cakes to Leatherhead!) went ALL OUT and asked to have all her child's favourites featured alongside Chase on his two-tiered birthday cake.
We modelled out of edible fondant the Paw Patrol figurines into cute little edible sculptures - Chase, Marshall, Rubble and Skye.
I do quite like the Paw Patrol logo and cut it out of fondant to give it a 3D effect (vs printed on icing sheets).
As a surprise guest appearance, we included Chickaletta! Nobody expects the silly little chicken to be included on a Paw Patrol themed birthday cake so when kids do find it it makes them laugh. And as a cake designer, being able to inject some humour into our designs is so important to me.
To stack, layer and decorate we used our delicious and famed vanilla Hero sponge recipe and Swiss meringue buttercream in natural, red, blue and yellow.
After stacking the dowelled tiers I carved out stations for the fondant Paw Patrol pups on each tier to nestle in. I prefer this look to simply looking "stuck on". As a last minute addition, I made some "pup treats" and dotted them around the cake.
Chickaletta REALLY makes this cake stand out for me. If you have a Paw Patrol fan's birthday coming up, get in touch with us! We'd love to make the Paw Patrol for kids’ birthday cakes and fulfill their dreams.
Lots of love,
Reshmi xoxo
